Treasurer’s Report – Abigail Miller, Treasurer

Staff Council Budget FY2026 - August 31 2025

Updates from July and August for travel and other Staff Council Retreat expenses.

Staff Council Excellence Fund is fully donation-based, so we will be setting goals for donations in the future to expand this fund.

Speaker: Employee Emergency Loan Program - Brett Last, Associate VP, Human Resources

The fund had been depleted from the university-provided funds, the loans repaid, then the application reopened, and is once again depleted.  This fund relies on donations to have the funds available.

Updates to the program: Reconstituted the committee to review the applications. The Staff Council chair currently serves on this committee. The intent is to assist with unplanned/unforeseen emergencies. Requests that are not typically covered: debts, car repairs, or donations to the community.

Speaker: Wellcats - Jenn Murphy, Adult Fitness Coordinator, Wellcats

Group Exercise Program updates for the fall: more virtual options (Zoom options at 7 AM, 5:15 PM), new locations (Alkek, LBJ), and additional times (7 AM, 4:15 PM, 5:15 PM)!

Join the Wellcats Team channel for all the information! Check out the website for the updated calendar.

Speaker/Tip of the Month: TXST Branding & Logo Updates Kelly King-Greene, Director, University Marketing

We have a new TXST logo!  Check out the brand website for all of the logos and other information about our brand guidelines. Request the logos if you need them for department use or promotional materials.

Any university logo is appropriate to use; we no longer have a preferred format based on the scenario.

Prefer two-color logos whenever possible (maroon and gold).

Academic majors now have logos.

Unit Logos are only available in the horizontal orientation.

Added a new color “TXST Bright Gold” to be more accessible.  The bright gold and maroon now meets the accessibility standards for color contrast.

New brand fonts: Public Sans (free Google font); Halis & Roboto remain.

Templates have been updated with new branding.

New social media avatars are on Canto. Promotion items that MarComm created are listed in a Canva document.

No unit logos will be on business cards.

For promo items where a horizontal unit logo does not fit, it is recommended to use a university logo, then use a text line or opposite sideline to add the department name.

Speaker: Parking Services - Michele Fox, Lieutenant of Patrol Operations, University Police Department

UPD is trying to reinvent Parking Services to make it more functional.

UPD has hired Walker Consultants to do an audit.  They will evaluate what is right, what is wrong, and make recommendations regarding improvements to be made.  Consultants will visit September 15th – 19th and would like to meet with Staff Council.

UPD has opened 200 Green spaces.  Thorpe Lane is delayed, but they are looking for long-term solutions.

Park TXST App – try to help alleviate the issue to help find parking.  It provides real-time data on open spots in lots and garages. The more people who use it, the better data it provides, like Waze. It can send alerts for lot closures as well.
